As a storyteller (developer) in SAP analytics Cloud we always experience this challenge of too many pages in the story or a “Performance Optimization Tip – too many widgets. Remove a few too better performance”. And then the conundrum starts “Shall I keep all or remove some or how best to utilize the space”

One solution which can help in few use cases is Tab strips. Let me give you an example

Use Case:

Superstore Model- Charts and Tables are based on Ship Mode.

Requirement is to see the charts and table filtered on each mode in separate pages. Replicating charts and tables along with different widgets in each page will eat up space and affect performance.

We can repurpose the Charts and Tables in main page in all the tabs.

Steps

  1. Open a blank canvas
  2. Add Tab strips

  1. Rename the Tabs in builder panel

  1. You can rename the Charts and Tables as per your preference under outline

  1. Click of FX in Tabstrip and write the below code

Save and view.

The idea is tab name acts as a filter and when you click on the tab it will move the charts and table from the Summary page after filtering it.

Few things to keep in mind.

  • Always use the id instead of description
  • When selecting filter in Set Dimension Filter, use “Open member Selector”.

Hope this helps. Let me know your thoughts.
