Location Intelligence, Location Analytics, Geomapping, call it as you want. It has become one of the core elements of BI nowadays.
Combining this with self-service advent, Location Intelligence became an even hotter topic, and real challenges began to appear.
In people mind, maps are way more complex than just plotting two dimensions on a map. And indeed, they are right, because hopefully there are some experts that worked hard to make geomapping easy without losing its powerfulness.
To start off, I'm pretty sure you guys have already tested what's native in terms of maps in Lumira. It's fine, as long as your aim is to have a macro overview of revenue per country, or watch high level trends across US States.
But when you want to get a little bit deeper, you rapidly face an unbreakable wall.
Luckily, we guys at Galigeo have worked hard to bring advanced geomapping in Lumira, keeping it easy to use, to carry on the self-service spirit here.
Recently, I've created few video tutorials to show how easy it is to get started, and though it could be cool to share them right here.
Each video lasts between 1 and 2 minutes, getting right to the point of core functionnalities the product offer.
So let's begin.
The first one describes how to install the extension using the extension manager in Lumira. If you are already familiar with this process, you can skip it and go directly to the next video.
Now, let's get our hands dirty and play around!
The next video shows how you create your first - yet meaningful maps in two clicks leveraging all the built-in technology of Galigeo For Lumira solution.
Quite easy, isn't it. The extension sits perfectly in Lumira, so it works like any other chart, drag and drop your dimensions and measure and you are there.
The third video goes a little bit deeper into analysis.
As you might already know, geospatial world is well known to off ersome powerful way to select and extract data from a map, but most of the time these tools require knowledge to be use correctly.
There, Galigeo For Lumira provides some of these tools out-of-the-box, like isodistance and drive-time, so you can focus on your data without having to face learning curve.
At this point, you would already be able to drive your operational insights from the map by yourself.
But there is more, let's move to a really interesting part, the one when you really bring what's relevant for your business on the map.
Galigeo For Lumira lets you blend any geographical data with your BI data in a user-friendly way.
That means you will be able to see your KPI on any official administrative boundaries, custom sales territories, railroads, networks, pipelines, inland waters, bicycle paths, or whatever.
No matter if the geodata comes from ESRI, OGC-compliant server or static files, it will be accepted by the solution.
You have your own territories, your KPIs lay on it, you can filter them, extract them, what are we missing?
Drill-down of course, quintessence of business intelligence.
Galigeo For Lumira will let you explore your data more in depths leveraging your hierarchies of course, but can also create hierarchies on the fly if needed, so you do not need to spend too much time in data preparation.
This means you can create hierarchies with as many layers as you want, and are not limited to standard Country to Region to City path.
The only limitaytion becomes your imagination.
Well, from here we have a pretty powerful geomapping solution between our hands.
I will end the video series with the next one.
It shows that of course, even if Galigeo For Lumira always provide guidance regarding the way to represent your data on the map, you can customize and look and feel of your layers if needed.
Of course, I could go even further to cover the whole functionalities of the product.
But I think it's enough, for this post at least.

And as you have seen, it does not take more than 10 minutes to get started and start to do advanced discovery into data. The whole process is pretty straightforward.
