Theis fine day, 01/04/2025, SAP is opening a new restaurant. It is called the “AI Powered Quantum Computing Restaurant Unleashed in the Restaurant Data Cloud”. It is located at the end of the universe, which is quite appropriate as that is what many customers feel has happened to them after going live with SAP.
Upon arrival you get given a complimentary can of the latest SAP beer, which is flavoured with lemon and lime, it will get your one, two, three, four five, senses working overtime.
This dining establishment it going to be very famous for its beer, but it also has a “Joule” purpose if you see what AI mean. That is, as might be expected it serves food. There is only one item on the menu, roasted seaweed, but it can customized as much as you want, so much so that even “citizen developers” can alter the nature of the meal by going into the kitchen and taking over the role you would normally expect a chef to do.
Here we see the food in its basic form of roasted seaweed.
As you can see it is called OBAP which by a wonderful co-incidence is also the name of SAP’s propriety programming language.
I even wrote a book about that language and where it was headed and have published several updated editions every few years. That book was called “OBAP to the Future”.
You can see the Death Star at the bottom right of my book cover. I had to get that in somehow, as Darth Vader was an OBAP programmer, and Yoda designed some elements of the OBAP programming language, which is why you see statements like IF NOT MONSTER_SIZE IS INITIAL.
Going back to the dining experience, after your INITIAL free beer, with your roasted seaweed dish you can have a choice of three different beers (pictured) all made in the “51st State” as Donald Trump calls it.
I have been assured that is not how SAP view their customers, no, no, not at all. Though they did become the most valuable company in Europe the other day, so they are getting their money from somewhere.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing all of you who remain the SAP Community down in the new restaurant for a beer and seaweed meal. No need to make a reservation, I think we can all easily fit inside, even if the place only has one table. The original design had lots of tables, but that was simplified down to one.
See you there!
Cheersy Cheers
