Capture IMG Configuration Versions with Solman - steps

Introduction

In this blog post, I will let you know how to capture IMG/ SPRO Configuration changes and versions for future retrieval.

Tracking of changes in IMG configuration or maintaining and comparing versions are not available as is in ECC or SAP S4HANA. So, SAP has come up with a solution in Solution Manager (Solman) to track these configuration changes so you can come back to the earlier version if required. A sales order scenario has been demonstrated.

Solution:

There is the prerequisite step – Upload all the configuration nodes in Solman system so that the library folders, viz. Process Step Library, Interface Library, Development Library, Configuration Library etc. are available.

Below steps need to be performed in Solman using transaction code SOLDOC for Sales Order scenario.

Step# 1: Create new Process Step Folder and Process Step

Solution > Libraries > Process Step Library > Sales Order

Step# 2: Create new Configuration which will show up all configuration nodes from IMG

Step# 3: Select the configuration node for which change version need to be captured. Once the configuration node is selected, sub nodes will be displayed

Step# 4: Click on the sub node to navigate to IMG and make any changes to the configuration

Step# 5: Changes are recorded in Process Document and available for download

 

Conclusion

You need to ensure that all libraries are uploaded in Solman so you can find the right nodes for your IMG Configuration. All changes made to the Configuration are logged and can be retrieved and a must scenario for breakdown or failure in Production system.
