Stronger Together:Many hands make the world run better
Our focus at this year’s first SAP Americas Partner Leadership Summit was to engage our ecosystem in 2 full days of rich content on our company’s strategy and how we are truly Stronger Together. It was quite an honor this year to have Corporate Social Responsibility be a part through our initiatives around SAP Talent, Technology and Capital.
Talent: On the opening day of the event, SAP Partners and employees came together at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida for a 2 hour volunteer service activity. Our mission? To provide school supplies to children in Miami, Florida and Bogota, Colombia alongside nonprofit partner Hands On Broward. Not only was this the first Partner Leadership Summit event for the newly created Americas region, but also our first volunteer event. With two long tables, shipping boxes and lots of school supplies, we packed over 400 back packs, as well as wrote personal notes of encouragement for the kids who thanks to SAP, will now get the school year started off right. And in typical SAP fashion, volunteers aren’t just happy packing backpacks normally, they take it to the next level. Some raced down the tables, were competing based on time, and attempting to grab and stuff faster. Others whistled, took pictures, and danced to tunes from our iPod.
Technology: As part of our mission to help the world run better and improve people’s lives, SAP donated technology to a group that provides sustainable housing solutions to needy families in Mexico. During the second day of the event, SAP held a press conference and issued an announcement on a successful SAP® Business One donation to nonprofit Échale a tu casa. The software, implemented by partner Avantis, will enable this NGO to better manage its expanding business operations from supply chain to performance management. According to current estimates, the program is expected to deliver more than 10,000 family housing solutions between June 2013 and June 2014. The company anticipates the project will impact more than 50,000 people.
Capital: The Celebratory Dinner on the last night was an all-out paddle battle for charity. We had event participants playing ping pong and competing to help financially support one of our key signature initiatives in CSR – the development of technology high schools in the US. For every point scored, SAP donated $10 to the cause. Our goal was $10,000, which we achieved in less than 45 minutes, and had a lot of fun at the same time. Picture ping pong tables full of competitive partners and SAP employees, with their colleagues cheering them on (and waiting eagerly for their turn to play). Definitely an event highlight.
We have officially set the bar for a great Month of Service in October, and I can’t wait to see how the Americas will engage the world with SAP. Stronger Together – that’s truly how we create life changing moments for people around the globe. |
Looking forward to other great CSR engagements and having more volunteers join us.
