In my last blog about this topic from January 15 I wrote that "cloud computing" showed 31.000.000 results on Google. Doing the same search today again the result is 29.400.00!. 1.6M less! Is the hype already over, is this the beginning of the end of cloud computing? We will see ...
Meanwhile I don't want to hesitate to give you up-to-date information about the upcoming SAP Virtualization Week 2010. As you remember (see SAP Virtualization Week, April 12-16, 2010 - Call for Papers) we ran the call-for-papers for two weeks until January 31 - and wow, was that successful. At the end we received 86 submissions. I liked all of them but to be able to have them on the agenda all together we had to rename the event to SAP Virtualization Weeks.
So we decided to run a voting to get help from the community to find the top 45 (we plan to run three tracks on three days with five sessions each; 3x3x5=45 🙂 ) The voting was even more successful, because almost 900 customers, partners, community members and SAP colleagues named us their top sessions. Thanks a lot.
Carefully planning the agenda for around 2 months we are very happy to be able to publish it now at
It shows a great mix of presentations by customers (like the ones from Dow Chemical, Colgate or Australia Post, just to name a few), partners (e.g. Citrix's Simon Crosby - you don't want to miss to listen to him, he's one of the best speakers for cloud and virtualization -, VMware - of course, after all it's virtualization week we are talking about - and many more) and SAP colleagues ("Virtual Reality — Operate SAP Systems on Virtual Server Technology" by my colleague Gunther Schmalzhaf is a great session to attend; Heiko Gerwens will talk about "SAP Power Benchmarks", something I personally am looking forward to; and many more).
But the event is not just about the sessions. It's also about the networking opportunities.
Are you a customer being interested in cloud computing, virtualization or Green IT, and you want to learn from other customers how they run virtualized SAP solutions successfully? Or do you want to meet all SAP cloud/virtualization experts at one location, having the unique chance to get answers to all your questions ?
Well, SAP Virtualization Week 2010 is the place to be. You don't want to miss it!
With six weeks to go until April 12 we are working hard to make the event as attractive as possible for everyone. In addition to the three days with sessions, panels etc. on April 13-15 we will run a partner day on April 12 (invitation to partners will go out soon) and a training day on April 16. I am happy that I could win Gunther Schmalzhaf to run a one-day version of the training "Adaptive Computing Implementation with Adaptive Computing Controller in SAP NetWeaver Technology" for you. If you want to attend this training please send me a short email, and I will let you know how to register.
That's all for this blog today. Please go now to the website http://www.sapvweek.com/ to learn more details about the event itself.
And if you want to come to Palo Alto in April (who wouldn't) ? No problem, simply submit your registration at http://coil.intrix.com/, please.
Best regards,
