Month of Service 2016 ~ Show the world your superpowers. Volunteer.

“Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk”

SAP is doing impactful work by encouraging its employees to participate and contribute to Month of Service(MoS) volunteer opportunities. With more than 100 volunteer projects for SAP employees, one can participate in any opportunity that aligns with community or work interest.

I started my journey at SAP just 3 months back. I am so happy to have volunteered for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on October 29, 2016.  The American Cancer Society relies on their volunteers to support the event. The event started at 8:30 a.m. and there were more than 12,000 participants. The funds raised by this event will help the American Cancer Society save lives from breast cancer and create awareness for women.

It was so inspiring to see people from diverse backgrounds coming together for a cause. I was cheering for all the walkers and runners at the finish line. There were proud survivors, elderly people, small kids running with their parents, people running with their pets and even a school band playing at the finish line. Some groups were running in memory of those who were affected by breast cancer. There were refreshment stations serving healthy food for the walkers, groups performing dances at the stage, and also a photo booth.

During my volunteering time I was able to connect with SAPsv colleagues from different locations and various other volunteers. I also got a chance to talk to some survivors and it was very thought provoking for me. In the end I felt so energized and realized that one should celebrate life every day! I am very thankful to SAP for providing this opportunity. I will definitely be volunteering for this event next year as well!

Cheers to life,
Amrita
