What says beautiful weather better than a colorful garden? The employees of the Newtown Square location have committed some of their time to making their campus a brighter and healthier place. SAP, with the help of the Triskeles Foundation, have created an on-site garden to grow vegetables that will then be donated to local food pantries. This however, is not your average garden, in SAP spirit it is also a competition amongst colleagues! 85 Volunteers are split into five different teams to maintain the different vegetables that are being grown. This will sure make for some “healthy“ competition!
The outstanding members of the Corporate Social Responsibility team provided help to get a grant to fund this new project. The garden, which is close to the NSQ 1 building, each bed is 12’ x 4’ and fits 24 cypress raised beds. The garden is not only maintained by SAP employee volunteers but it was built by them as well. With the help of the 35 volunteers from 11AM-6PM, the beds were built, the soil was filled in and the fence was put up. Total construction taking only one day! This was a great display of the hard work that our employees put into volunteerism. The volunteers for the remainder of the time are split into five groups; each group is represented by a captain and a vegetable. Eggplants, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and peppers are the five represented veggies. For the rest of the time that the garden is on-site the captains will assign their teammates to water and tend to the vegetable their team is assigned to. Plantings will take place Spring, Summer and Fall. We look forwarding to watching this natural process.
