This blog provides a broad outline of how custom objects like custom dimensions, custom measures and custom metrics can be exported and imported between different tenants, as well as the exporting and importing of CPE packages.
Restriction: Currently, we have no option to export and import the following objects.
Fact Sheet: Once we have defined our own set of custom dimensions, custom measures and custom metrics, we can export that set using either of the respective apps, i.e. Manage Custom Dimensions, Manage Measures, Manage Metrics. We can also export and import the created CPE (Calculation and Processing Engine) content.
To begin with, let us focus on how we can export and import custom objects. For Instance I have created a custom dimension called "Insurance Type For Employees" and updated the master data.
Exporting and Importing Custom Objects:
Now let us choose "Go To Export" option.
Add the desired custom objects.
Select the desired custom dimension from the value help and add to the custom objects inventory.
All valid custom objects can be exported using the option "Export All".
we can find the exported file in the "Downloads" folder with the file name as "sct-custom-inventory.json" and can be renamed if required for import.
Now, let us access "Manage Custom Dimensions" app to import.
choose the file to upload,
Let us choose the option "Import All". System imports the valid custom objects.
Exporting and Importing CPE Packages:
Let us look at how we can export and import content from CPE packages. We can enter CPE from various possible ways. For instance I have chosen using app "CPE Process Templates for Data Management".
Let us move on to environments overview page,
from the overview page, we can select the desired package to export by choosing the option "Export".
For instance, I have chosen "SCT - Manage ESG Data", " Version 0009".
A file in the .zip file format is added to the list with the name and version of the environment. We can view the exported environment.
Now, let us import using file upload option.
After the file upload has been successful, we must choose the option "Import" and input the details.
Let us choose "Import" and check the import status.
😊This brings me to the end of the "Exporting and Importing Custom Objects" walkthrough process in SAP Sustainability Control Tower. I hope this blog proves useful to the Sustainability Control Tower Team. I think this feature brings a significant value to the business during implementation process.
If you want to gain a deep understanding of SAP Sustainability Control Tower and out of the box seamless integration with SAP EHSM, Environment Management, check out my SAP SCT & EHSM blogs mentioned below, they will give you a broad outline of SAP Sustainability Control Tower & SAP EHSM Environment Management topics.
