On Thursday, October 25, City Year San José held its 2018 Starry Starry Night Gala at Levi’s stadium to honor those who support student development and success in high-need schools across the nation.
Upon arriving to the stadium, a group of 30+ City Year members lined the entrance to “power greet” each guest. This greeting, reflective of that which is done each day by a City Year member before class, is meant to encourage the mindset necessary for dreaming big and doubting little. With pom-poms in hand and the 49ers drum line nearby, the tone was set for an inspiring night.
Throughout the program, supporters of City Year were recognized, honored, and thanked. From the crowd, SAP colleagues heard people’s anecdotes about resilience, courage, and achieving the unimaginable, all of which were necessary reminders that causes such as this are driven by the support of many and that our sponsorship as SAP affects the futures of hundreds.
In sum, the City Year welcome was larger than life, the speakers: deserving of admiration, and the cause: one that is easy to align with.
