Today in the US is a holiday Thanksgiving. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in the challenges and chaos that surround us. Amidst the noise, there exists a simple yet profound practice that has the potential to transform our outlook and well-being – gratitude.

Gratitude is more than a polite expression; it's a mindset, a lens through which we view the world. It involves recognizing and appreciating the positive aspects of our lives, no matter how small. Research in psychology consistently highlights the tangible benefits of gratitude. It's not just a nicety; it's a science-backed tool for improving mental and emotional health.

It doesn't mean we gloss over the problems and challenges of life, but we take time to enjoy the successes and times we did overcome. For me, coming from the US, taking time and being with family was always the focus and the best part of the holiday.

But every year we went bowling, and I am not a good bowler and it was a frustrating time. However, as I got older I realized that the point was not to have the best score, which never happened, but to rise above the game and enjoy the laughs, time together, and make memories because tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us.

While today is not a holiday here in Germany, I will still take time and remember all those who have had a positive impact on me this past year. I hope you can too and maybe take a minute to write an message to a person or 2 who you are grateful for. It will make their day a bit brighter!
