Hello Community,
next attempt, hopefully now in the right area...
I managed to customize Yard Logistics successfully (YO, YT etc.). Everything is working out well - except the creation of a new driver. So the self check-in is working until the system tries to create the driver id and driver. Than I get an error message, that the number is not in the number range.
The driver in Yard Logistics is a business partner and has an own number range which is customized in
"SPRO > Yard Logistics > Master Data > Setting Up the Yard > Define Number Ranges for Yard Request, Yard Order, Yard Task > Define Number Ranges for Driver Business Partner".
Unfortunately it seems, that the system tries to use the "normal number range" which is defined in the "Cross-Application Components > SAP Business Partner".
Can someone explain to me how the concept of Business Partners/ Business Partner Role and number range is functioning? How does the system know which business partner role uses which number range? I can't find the point where i can connect the business partner role to the number range which I defined in YL.
Configuration:
If you need further information, please let me know.
Many thanks,
Sandra

Hi SandraBittner,
To be honest with you, I had the same issue 🙂 but I will try my best to explain you about that...
First the default driver role must be external number range, your case is ZYL_DR
System behaviour Steps :
Step 1. System used this below driver number range. Remember its hard coded in program...i dont know why. See the program screen shot
"SPRO > Yard Logistics > Master Data > Setting Up the Yard > Define Number Ranges for Yard Request, Yard Order, Yard Task > Define Number Ranges for Driver Business Partner". Example-1
Step 2. Then it add D with the number got from Step 1.
Now example D0000001 - As Driver id
Step 3: Default Driver Role from below - External Number range since self check in app is generated BP/Driver as D...
4. Assign Driver to Carrier.
My Sandbox Example- New Driver id created while self-check in.
Please let us know if you have still questions...
Kind Regards,
Ajit

Hej Ajit,
many many thanks for your reply and answer. I do have more question, because I did not understand everything.
Is it correct, that I have two Directories in which I need to customize SAP? First is "Cross-Application Components > SAP Business Partner" and Second is "Yard Logistics" folder.
Let's start with Cross-Application Components:
There I need to define: 1. BUPA Role (ZYL_DR) & 2. BUPA Role Category (ZYL_DR) and 3. Number Range. There are 4 Number Ranges Nos defined. How do I know which number range is used by my BP Role? Do i need to define the number range here as "External"? Do I need to define a new number range? How is the connection between this business partner role and the number range?
For me it seems that there is a mistake in this part, because while creating an BUPA Driver the system error says, that the number is not in the number range. And it shows the number from number range 01 you see on the screenshot below.
Than go to the Yard Logistics Folder:
Here I define the number range for the driver, which looks like this:
Do I need to define this number as external? And do i need to add the "D" here?
Many thanks and have a good start to the new week 🙂

Hi Sandra,
Is it correct, that I have two Directories in which I need to customize SAP? First is "Cross-Application Components > SAP Business Partner" and Second is "Yard Logistics" folder. -> Yes
How do I know which number range is used by my BP Role? Do i need to define the number range here as "External"? Do I need to define a new number range? How is the connection between this business partner role and the number range? -> System is bydefault picking external Standard Group and check the number- Below is my system set up, My default role for driver (TM0001) automatic assigned to below external Standard Group.
Than go to the Yard Logistics Folder:
Do I need to define this number as external? -> No, its internal only
And do i need to add the "D" here? -> No- System will add as D
Please let us know if any further questions...
Kind Regards,
Ajit
Hej Ajit, wonderful...the number range in the "normal" BUPA was not defined. The D-number range was missing, that is why the system tried to use another one. Im am so grateful and happy for your explanation! System creates Business Partner with D number range now and it works well!
Have a great week and thanks for your help.
Many Greetings, Sandra
