Whitescreen after logging in Public cloud with Zebra scanner (via Velocity)

Hi all,

I’m facing an issue when trying to connect to SAP Public Cloud using Velocity on a Zebra MC330K handheld scanner (Android 8).

After launching the Velocity session and entering login credentials, the screen turns completely white and doesn’t proceed. This issue cannot be debugged directly in Velocity.

Here’s what I’ve already checked:

  • The root cause seems to be an outdated Chromium WebView (version 67).

  • I tested with the standard Chromium browser deployed via Zebra StageNow/ADB (also version 67), and the issue persists.

  • The device is running with Zebra Enterprise Home Screen, so I have no direct access to standard Android settings or the Play Store to update Chromium.

Has anyone faced something similar?
Is there a recommended approach to update the Chromium WebView on these Zebra devices — or an alternative way to run SAP Fiori apps in such constrained environments? Could the solution be try to push Zebra enterprise browser to the scanner?IMG_1645.jpegIMG_1646.jpeg

Hello @FlorisBoon

Your Zebra MC3300 device runs Android 8.1.0 with Chromium Web View version 67, which is too old to render modern Fiori apps correctly. SAP UI5 apps (used in Public Cloud) now rely on more advanced browser features (e.g. ES6+, updated CSS/JS APIs) that are unsupported in Chromium 67, hence the white screen after login

Recommendation,

Use Enterprise Browser, which is SAP-compatible, Zebra-supported, and ready for modern web apps.

Thank you and kind regards

Chuma

Hi Chuma, I am using Zebra MC33 Gun for SAP Public Cloud 2052, my consultant has suggested to use a Enterprise browser web base for RF environment. Due to this I am facing difficultly in operating Gun as we have to zoom in and zoom out for any selection.

Can you suggest a possible solution to this ? Can it be open in application form so that it is user friendly to operate.

Thanks in advance

Hi Chuma,

Hi Chuma,

I’ve installed Zebra Enterprise Browser as advised, but after logging in to SAP Public Cloud I still encounter a white screen. I’ve tested other HTTPS websites as the homepage and those load without issue, so the problem seems to be specific to the interaction between Enterprise Browser and SAP Public Cloud.

Is there any alternative workaround you would recommend? Or is it simply the case that SAP Public Cloud is not compatible with this Zebra device (running Android 8.1)?

Thanks in advance for your support.

Best regards,

Hallo @FlorisBoon ,

Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for your update regarding the Zebra MC3300 and Enterprise Browser.

Mobile access is supported only through SAP Fiori apps, which require a modern browser and OS in S4HANA Public cloud. Although Enterprise Browser helps with device management, it depends on the underlying Android version.

The MC3300 with Android 8.1 does not fully support SAP Fiori apps due to missing web standards like JavaScript ES6 and newer SAPUI5 components, this is why you see a white screen.

S4 Public Cloud Notes,

  • No RFUI or SAP GUI screens for mobile — only Fiori apps are supported
  • SAP recommends Android 10 or newer for full compatibility

Next Steps,

  • Check with Zebra if your device can be upgraded to Android 10+
  • Alternatively, test with a newer Zebra device validated for Fiori apps in Public Cloud
  • Let me know if you need help reviewing device options or SAP requirements.

Best regards
Chuma

Hello @Nihit

The zooming issue on Zebra MC33 with Enterprise Browser is common due to screen scaling.

  •  Configure Enterprise Browser to open apps in full screen with optimised scaling.
  • Request your SAP team to simplify the RF app layout for handheld devices.
  • Device Display Settings: Check Zebra system settings to adjust default zoom or font size.

For critical apps, you can also explore native mobile apps via SAP BTP, but that requires extra setup.
