what is the use of Swap planning status in material master- Advanced planning tab

Hello All,

i am confused with option (Swap planning status in material master- Advanced planning tab). Can anyone let me know the importance of this option in S4 HANA 2020 version.

and moreover, when you checkout the advanced planning check box once and save, then the system is not allowing you to uncheck in MM02. what is the reason?

Hi Chandra,

This is a good development made by SAP. The reason for this is more to do with the issues that gets raised due to inconsistences that get developed due to premature removal of the advance planning flag. In the previous release you could remove this flag as and when you wanted that potentially caused lots of issues. For more details please have a look at the oss note 2973627 - Clean-up of inconsistencies due to premature reset of the "Advanced Planning" indicator in the material master.

swap planning status button is to change the planning status from active for planning to Marked for deactivation status.

Before removing the advanced planning check for a material, we may need to change the status as marked for deactivation and which will automatically sets deletion flag for the product in Advanced planning ( PPDS).

Then no planning will be done for that material either in advanced planning or in S/4 HANA MRP. Once we delete all dependent objects in advanced planning, system will allow us to remove the advanced planning check box.

No changes will get transferred to Advanced Planning after we set planning status as Marked for deactivation.

This OSS Note 2973627 does not explain the use of the "swap planning status" button. I am still confused on the purpose of this button. Are you saying it will validate if the material's advanced planning indicator can be removed?
