Stock type is a complex word but if you try to match it to S/4 stock type and storage location it is easy to understand. Each storage location of an EWM managed warehouse, becomes an availability group in EWM. In ERP we have basically 3 stock types or 4 stock types in S/4. they are Unrestricted, Blocked, Quality and Return (Customer Return) stocks. If you combine a storage location and stock type, it becomes a stock type in EWM.
example:
- Storage location ROD = 001 availability group.
- Unrestricted stock in storage location ROD becomes F1
- Blocked stock in storage location ROD becomes B1
- Quality stock in storage location ROD becomes Q1
- Return stock in storage location ROD becomes R1
