Use of field "Originally planned Quantity" in PBED table in SAP PP

Hello all,

I am pretty new to SAP PP and trying to figure out the use of fields in PBED table for a report.

I can understand the use of Planned Qty, Withdrawal Qty.But, i don't understand the significance of Originally planned Qty. I did check production system but this field always has blank value. Can someone put some light on it's use and how it would get value updated.
