Unable to multiply by attribute value

Hello,

I have created an attribute OUTPUTFACTOR(NVARCHAR) and added it to PRDID. This is the calculation below:

At the end of planning area activation I am getting the message below(At almost the end of activation)

Any help/guidance will be appreciated highly.

We are on IBP 5.0 SP 10, if that is of any help.

I think the error is due to the datatype of your attribute. You cannot use VARCHAR attribute in the mathematical calculation.

My data type is NVARCHAR, so I thought I could do it the way I configured it. Looks like this was possible up to IBP 4. Apparently SAP for some reason has taken out this capability in IBP 5.0. But the dosumentation says that we should be able to do that.

Basically i I have to go back to a DECIMAL data type and configure that as 'attribute as key figure'.

Any input from other experts will be wonderful.

Attr as KF is the only way I know of as well. Following thread in case anybody has an alternate method.
