two questions regarding SAP IBP starter edition(8004817)

Hi, guys.

Our consulting team is planning to help our clients improve thier capability of SCM by using SAP IBP, and thus we are to purchase what is called SAP IBP starter edition(8004817).

As long as checking FAQ of the lisense out, following two quesions have come to our mind. it would be highly appreciated if those with deep knoeledge of this product answered the questions. thanks.

question1:

When we try to use IBP starter edition (8004817) alone, is there anything we need to buy or prepare in advance except lap-top itself?(I am asking this question on the backdrop that I will connect SAP IBP with S4/HANA we alreday have once we buy the IBP. I would like to know if there should be something we need to prepare for that.)

question2:

Is Excel add-in included initially into IBP starter edition (8004817)? If so, is there any prerequisites regarding the usage, such as storage-size or version?

You can run it stand alone, interfacing with flat file load.

If you want to connect any other system such as S/4HANA, BW, APO, ..., or any other non-SAP-system via automated flat file load, this is usually done via CPI-DS. CPI-DS is included in the license (separate URL will be provided), but you need to install the agent (software included in the license).

And the Add-On for S/4HANA provides additional content for pre-configured data flow for the integration. So the recommendation usually is to use it, but it is not mandatory for usage of CPI-DS.

I am neither Sales nor product management, so no guarantees on my following statements in regards to license, please.

You will find here https://help.sap.com/viewer/6b0a6820ebf94ff4a15d68af6db7745b/2005/en-US what is in your license and what not.

--> That includes the usage of the Excel Add-In

--> And it includes the download for the CPI-DS agent you need to install on your on-premise side on a server or your laptop for integrating of time series data from and to S/4 (assuming it is on premise S/4).

What I can not find in that link, but what I think is included would be the S/4 Add-On for IBP you should download and install on S/4: It provides tables, functions, transactions and roles you can use to build your CPI-DS flows to load data from S/4 to IBP and vice versa.

That Add-On was initially built for the SDI interface needed for order based planning (response) - which is NOT included in your license. So you will likely not be able to download the piece of software you would need to run the SDI-agent for that interface

Plus, if you want to enable JAM functionalities for collaboration, as far as I know that would require a separate license as well

Thank you for your quick response and answering my question! I understood that Excel Add-in&S/4 Add-On for IBP are supporeted in the lisence while SDI Interface and JAM are NOT.

Although I am informed that your commenct is not guaranteed, I would like to make another question sure(my final question);

Is my understanding right that "IBP starter-edition can work alone. Plus, that can be connected by using S/4 Add-On for IBP to S/4 HANA"?
