Team,

Need your inputs if you have worked in TM EWM integration. Here TM will send Freight order which will create TU in EWM.

1.We map transportation unit(TU) as handling unit as per below message , so are we packing HU's (Products) loaded on semitrailer truck in nested HU(Vehicle1/TU1)? Do we need to pack all HU's loaded in truck into nested HU? Please confirm

https://help.sap.com/doc/saphelp_scm2007/2007/en-US/3a/04b1408ef7be60e10000000a155106/content.htm?no...

2. Also in second case truck with 2 TU's , how we will treat them?

3. How we will configure train with four wagons? Will we create each wagon as one TU and as one nested HU and in that all HU's loaded. What will be called to Train ?

4.We have cassettes on which material will be loaded, what shall we treat cassette as HU/TU? and these cassettes will be loaded on ship/vessel. What vessel shall be treated as?

5. We see there is one more processes after material loaded on cassette i.e. lashing , do we need to configure this as one more packing step ? After picking material will be loaded on cassette and then it will be lashed and then it will be send to staging area for load . Please comment.

Please let me know if any one worked in above scenarios and have SAP best practices , please share here.

Thanks

Hi,

"1.We map transportation unit(TU) as handling unit as per below message , so are we packing HU's (Products) loaded on semitrailer truck in nested HU(Vehicle1/TU1)? Do we need to pack all HU's loaded in truck into nested HU? Please confirm"

Not really... while technically EWM might control a TU in the same way as a HU, you have HUs inside the warehouse and TU outside (in the yard). So you do not "pack", but "load" the HUs into the TU. And you do not see that in the same way as a nested HU.

"3. How we will configure train with four wagons? Will we create each wagon as one TU and as one nested HU and in that all HU's loaded. What will be called to Train ?"

This would be 4 TUs and 1 vehicle. As it explains in the documentation link you shared.

"4.We have cassettes on which material will be loaded, what shall we treat cassette as HU/TU? and these cassettes will be loaded on ship/vessel. What vessel shall be treated as?

5. We see there is one more processes after material loaded on cassette i.e. lashing , do we need to configure this as one more packing step ? After picking material will be loaded on cassette and then it will be lashed and then it will be send to staging area for load . Please comment."

In that case the cassette would be a HU, not a TU. Because only the HU can be sent for a "staging area for load". The ship/vessel would be a TU.

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!
And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!

Juergen , thanks for reply. Please let us know if we have any standard SAP practice document for EWM TM integration where we know planning of different means of transport with mode of transport as well as efficient execution of this.

Prashant
