Transportation Zone Hierarchy

Hello,

I need to understand concept and use case of Transportation zone hierarchy. Cant understand much from help.sap.com . Let me take an example.

I define a T zone A and location A assigned to it. I define another T zone B and location B assigned to it.

There is a T lane defined between T zone A and T zone B

In T zone hierarchy, I add T zone A at higher level and T zone B under it. Now what ? what it helps/inherited and what else ?

If this example is not a good case, then if someone can explain with an example with complete details
