Tracking Production Status from supplier - SAP EM - Supply Chain Event Management

Hi,

I ve worked myself trough very interesting Blogs about SAP EM (https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/SCM/SAP+Event+Management) but didn t find the answer I am looking for.

I am doing a project with a big german company (Mechanical Engineering) that is using, of course, SAP as their ERP. The challenge is the following:

-Suppliers (mostly small and medium size companies, not using SAP) tend more and more to deliver orders not on time due to capacity problems.

-Excel files, phone and E-Mail are used to coordinate delivery Dates. Suppliers of critical materials are also asked to provide Information about the production Status of the order. (e.g. one order has 5 Milestones, supplier provides date of planned and actual completation of every Milestone)

Aim: early identification of deviations of delivery date --> possibility to recoordinate assembly

Question: Is there a solution within SAP (EM) to get rid of the costly coordination via Phone, E-mail and Excel files?

There are many standard SAP EM visibility scenarios you could use here. Maybe try the Purchase Order visibility scenario and create custom Expected Events for Supplier activities. If any of the Expected Events become overdue you can trigger alerts or simply display the overdue events in a report.
