The finite heuristic didn't find a solution

Hello,

For a specific one product/one customer/one DC/one production plant combination I maintained Non Delivery Cost, Late Delivery Cost, Customer Transportation Cost Rate, Transportation Cost Rate, Production Cost Rate. Location resource doesn't has enough capacity to fulfill full demand hence expecting heuristic to create production receipt as per capacity supply.

But finite heuristic run keep throwing " The finite heuristic didn't find a solution" error. I'm not sure what master data setting/input key figure is missing.

fyi...ran infinite heuristic first then finite. expecting finite heuristic to respect capacity constraint and roll up committed supply all the way up to customer receipt.

Thanks

PK

Hello Gaurav,

PCAPACONSPOLICY and TCAPACONSPOLICY was blank all the time. Then just now I changed the PCAPACONSPOLICY =1(not 2 as per ibp help), PLEADTIME=1 to test if it does affect the outcome and reran the finite heuristic....same error;

just fyi...transport capacity is not modeled.

Thanks

Thanks for response, Gaurav.

No minimum lot size maintained in production or transportation

Production

Transportation

and capacity load is more than 100% in all buckets

So in case of capacity shortage finite heuristic output in production receipt KF should be zero, correct? but what i am seeing is that production receipt KF still has the result of infinite heuristic.

fyi....customer demand, fully committed rather than late or unfulfilled;

Thanks

PK

Hello Pradeep,

Please check minimum Production Lot Size/Transportation lot size values and see if producing that much requires capacity more than the available one.

This can also be validated if running the infinite heuristic is creating receipt values higher than demand and is generating capacity utilzation greater than 100%.

Hello Gaurav,

Running check mode algo is the first thing I did, no issues. I'll run it again though. Finite heuristic results focus is only one customer/product/DC/Plant/Source ID/Resource set of data. There is no option to use any filter to run heuristic for smaller data set by using filter in S&OP operator.

Thanks

Hello Gaurav,

Is it possible that running infinite heuristic first then finite could be the reason for error? just a thought.

thanks

Hi Pradeep,

That should not be an issue. You can also try running them in different versions or scenarios. But the result will be the same for the finite heuristic.

You should run the Check Mode algorithm to see if there are any master data inconsistencies in the system.

To Zero down on root cause, you can try the finite heuristic on subset of your current data set and see what part is causing trouble.

Thanks
