Hi folks,

I am facing a challenge in order to define the structure when there exist multiple regional process and a global process, then in scenarios like such how do you define IBP architecture?

1. Will we be needing multiple Planning area for each of regional process and 1 more global process.

2. Each regional process might have other regional systems like ERP, how does the mapping of data take places for Global process

Hi,

The following is the response to answers.

1. Will we be needing multiple Planning area for each of regional process and 1 more global process.

  • It depends on the business decision on how to manage the region and global process. In general, multiple regional ERP systems integrated into one central system with one planning area. So that master data maintenance and planning for the region and global in the same planning level in real-time.

2. Each regional process might have other regional systems like ERP, how does the mapping of data take places for Global process

  • Region process is separated from the global process then multiple planning areas to be created and integrate and sync relevant master and transactional data to the global planning area for planning and reporting purposes.

Hi Prashant,

If your process area going to be too much different then you will definitely need multiple planning areas. otherwise you can bring all the data into 1 planning area and manage as one single process and single planning area in IBP

Thanks

Hi Prashant

If you have to run Supply planning for regional at Day level and for Global Supply plan at the week level, then, in that case, you need 2 different planning areas, otherwise, you can have one planning area and use subnetwork to break the planning run if your requirement is to run Supply plan at different time. Based on my experience I would suggest staying with only one planning area to avoid complexity and data inconsistency.

Have you considered Sub Network Planning?

subnetwork planning is to separate runs (Planning scope) within same planning area but still you are doing everything in 1 planning area means you have common design/process
