Supply planning with Configurable Materials

Hi All,

I'm currently working on a client to implement SAP IBP for Demand and Supply Planning. The client has typical MTS products but also Configurable Products where the FG is MTO but with the requirement to plan in advance some HALBs and ROHs.

For MTS we are proposing to use SAP IBP to generate the demand plan and the supply plan out of it, and then do the short term PP and DS in PPDS.

We know SAP IBP does not support working with Configurable Products so we are looking at workarounds:

- We assume we can generate a Demand Forecast in SAP IBP for the KMAT by "playing" with BOMs and planning hierarchies. Out of DP we get a demand plan for KMAT-location-week.

- How can we translate this forecast to the specific variants of the KMAT to raise planned orders for the HALBs and PRs for the ROHs? Can we send the demand plan as PIR to MRP? (I gues no because these PIR are not associated with any characteristic)
