We essentially need to grant access at three levels:
- Procurement Department – Needs access to stock to check current availability, procurement-relevant quantities, In Process (PO qty not receive) to manage replenishment. They should have access to item cost but ideally to head of department not all procurement officers.
- Sales Team – to check sellable stock when creating orders. They need to view sellable stock, excluding restricted or blocked stock, Booked by other sales orders or quote and in staging being prepared. Also ideally for manager available-to-promise (ATP) stock
ATP stock = Unrestricted stock + Receipts (ex: confirmed POs, production orders) – Requirements (ex: sales orders, reservations)
- Warehouse Team – to monitor physical and staged inventory
At present, we’ve been provided access, to two apps:
- Stock – Multiple Materials ( then we were told not to use it)
- Display Warehouse Stock
Unfortunately, both apps expose cost-related data, which is not appropriate for all users. I’ve already requested immediate removal of cost visibility and revocation of access to prevent internal exposure of sensitive data.
The quantity displayed is not the Sellable stock which is the mostly needed.
Some warehouse users (though not all) have access to the EWM Warehouse Monitor.
From my review, this monitor provides the most accurate stock representation. However, it includes extensive functions that go beyond basic review needs and does not appear to support a view-only access mode, additionally doesn't include the available stock at IM locations.
I would value your recommendation on:
- Which apps we should use for each department
- How we can restrict views to only necessary data (especially excluding cost)
- Whether there is a lighter or read-only version of the EWM Monitor or a better-suited alternative for general warehouse staff
