Standard HU-Type for Packaging Material in EWM

Hi,

I have replicated several packaging materials from ECC to dec. S/4 EWM.

When I try to create a handling unit in /SCWM/PACK with a specific packing material (ZNB42) I get the following error:

Packaging material ZNB42 has no HU type and cannot be used in warehouse

However when I use packing material ZNB99 everything works as intended.

Now the difference between the two is that in /SAPAPO/MAT1 material ZNB99 has a Standard HU Type defined as well as a HU Type for the Packaging Material Type:

Whereas ZNB42 doesn't have this information:

The Master Data in ECC is the same for both and I can't edit the fields in /SAPAPO/MAT1.

Where in SPRO can I make this assignment?

Why in SPRO? That is master data. And that means you maintain it in the ECC system and transfer the change over to the EWM system.

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!

Hi Juergen,

thank you - but are you sure? I checked all segments of the IDoc which replicated the material ZNB99 and nothing indicates the transfer of the Standard HU Type or the HU Type for the Packaging Material Type.

Also I cant find anything about the HU-Type in the material master views in ECC - can you point me to where I can maintain this info?

Hi Tim,

yes, I am sure :-). There are two fields, as you noticed, HUTYP_DLFT and HUTYP, both parts of MARA. And they are in the list of fields you should transfer in the integration guide of SAP Note 2840129 - Release information and restrictions of Decentralized EWM on S/4HANA 1909. So if you have used this guide, these two fields should be in your IDoc.

Both of these field are on the tab "WM Packaging" in EPR. If you don't find that, you either have not added the proper views to your material master screen sequence - or the screen sequence you have does not contain these views (this can be affected by several keys).

P.S. what you have to maintain in customizing in ECC and S/4HANA is the table for HU types. These tables must include the same entries in both systems.

You were absolutely right. I checked again and both fields were transfered in E1MARA1 segment of the IDoc. Your were also right about the missing material master screen - I found a Z-Report with which the customer has maintained this field for other materials.. thank you again!

Other than custom report, the field is in /SCWM/MAT1, too, and can be maintained for a single packaging material there.

For mass edit, use standard transaction MASSD.
