Dears,
Is SNP Planning area initialization need to scheduled? Is it a must. The initialized periods are now shown the past but the planning tables are working fine till whatever horizon we specify? Does SNP Planning area initialize itself automatically?
Thanks
Amit

Hello,
Report /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_INITIALIZE creates all necessary objects (time grid, key figures, time series) in time series LC for a new planning version.
When the report is executed for an existing planning version then it creates missing time series for new CVCs, and creates new periods if the planning horizon is rolled.
If you have to roll the horizon you should run run /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_INITIALIZE Whenever you create/change/delete APO Master Data, the SNP planning objects need to be updated
The SNP master data and the time series in the liveCache should normally be updated by the initialization of the planning version
•For planning areas that do not have a time series key figure, it is sufficient to initialize one version. •For planning areas with time series key figures, you must initialize each version.
So on a daily base for the active version and after a version copy from active version to simulation version for simulation version. I don't know whether it can be done automatically in background. However, you can schedule background job for it.
For more details please refer SAP note 1331576 - Initialization and Delta Handling for SNP Master Data.

Thanks RB
Meanwhile I came across this animal called "TS: Aut. Update" in Maintain SNP Global settings and that is set to 'Update Time Series Automatically'
In any case I do not have any time series key figures. I was wondering how does it impact planning view horizons etc.
I do not quite follow from this F1 what does Master Data Queue Processing means ? if there is no time series key figures at all.
Specifies whether the system has to run time series update automatically after SNP master data queue processing has finished.
If the planning area your are working with has time series, the time series must be updated after the system has processed the SNP master data queue.
