Setup Matrix Generation using BADI

We have a requirement related to the setup matrix generation in the DSC version of MP&S. However, we are encountering a challenge wherein the standard SAP logic for determining the setup group is causing the setup matrix to breach the SAP limit of 3000, preventing us from generating it.

I am interested in exploring the possibility of creating a custom setup matrix by inputting only the relevant set of setup groups for our business needs and excluding the non-relevant ones to avoid surpassing the 3000 limit. I have been investigating the use of the BADI /SAPAPO/CDPS_MATGEN method SETUP_MATRIX_GENERATE, which is responsible for the generation of setup matrices. However, I am unsure about its functionality and how to proceed with it. If anyone has experience in utilizing this method, I would greatly appreciate some guidance on how to proceed. Your insights would be invaluable.

P.S: We have also explored the Setup matrix profile functionality which is recently introduced by SAP to limit the setup matrix but that is not working.
