Hi Sapians,
In SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition, the service master template includes a column for price control, where the price type can be set as either "S" (Standard) or "V" (Moving Average). However, there is no column in the template for entering the standard price/moving price. On the other hand, if we use transaction MM01 to create a service, there is a field to enter the standard price, but no field for selecting the price control type.
This raises a question: if the standard price for a service is not maintained in the same way as it is in ECC or the on-premise version, why does the template include a price control column? Conversely, if the standard price functionality is indeed available in this edition, why isn’t there a column for entering the standard price in the service master template?
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you very much for your question and sorry for the late reply.
Can you please check whether the following information (GenAI was used to help generate this content) solves your issue?
In SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition, the handling of price control and standard price for services differs from the traditional ECC or on-premise versions. The presence of a price control column in the service master template is due to the system’s capability to manage different types of price controls, such as ‘S’ for Standard Price and ‘V’ for Moving Average Price. However, the actual entry of standard prices is managed differently.
The template includes a price control column to allow users to specify the type of price control applicable to the service. This is important for determining how price variances are handled during transactions. However, the entry of the actual standard price is not done through the template but rather through specific apps or transactions designed for price management.
In SAP S/4HANA Cloud, the standard price functionality is available, but it is typically managed through apps like ‘Set Service Prices - Sales’ Sales - Set Service Prices - Sales or ‘Manage Prices - Sales’, where you can create and maintain condition records for service prices. These apps allow you to set prices based on various conditions and criteria, such as sales organization, distribution channel, and material number.
The absence of a column for entering the standard price directly in the service master template reflects the shift towards using condition records and pricing apps for more dynamic and flexible price management. This approach allows for more granular control over pricing based on business data and conditions rather than static entries in a template.
For more detailed management of prices, users can utilize the ‘Manage Prices - Sales’ Professional Services - Manage Prices app, which provides functionalities to create, change, and display condition records used for service prices, ensuring that pricing is accurately reflected in service transactions.
Kind regards,
Henrike
