Serial Number in GR is getting updated in a new Line

While posting the GR for materials with Serial number, the value of serial number is getting updated in a new line. It is not getting updated in the line where the storage location is present.
I have checked checked in sap tables values and 2 rows are maintained for each material. upon checking in MMBE, for a particular storage location for the GR was performed, the serial number did not get updated.

Why is this happening ? Is there any configuration to be done or is there any particular process to be followed for making the Serial number appear in the same line as the Storage location value.

You have mentioed MMBE. Is there an EWM system in the picture?

Could you check settings in serial number profile? is it marked as "inventory managed" at EWM level? what is SN usage setting for procedure MMSL at inventory management level?

Yes, it is maintained as 03 in MMSL Procedure.
Despite that maintenance, we are getting the error.

Also, a new line is being created while posting the GR.
