/SCWM/PI_CC_CREATE - Include inventoried objects

I am trying to understand the purpose of the Include inventoried objects checkbox in the /SCWM/PI_CC_CREATE transaction.  It says that it will force a product or bin to be included even if it has been counted for the current period, but this is not working.

I have a product with a CC indicator that says it should be counted once per year.  However, if we did want to create an ad-hoc CC count for it after it has already been counted for the year, I thought that we would just have to select this checkbox, however the selection produces no results and the the log says the product is complete for the AA.

If I change the inventory period to the following year, with or without the "include inventoried objects" check box selected, the product is found:

I am thinking there is an OSS note for this behavior, but I could not find one specific to this problem.

Hello,

If you wish to use the cycle counting as an annual counting, you need to check two selection criteria 1/ 'Include Already-Inventoried Objects' and 2/

The definition of the indicator 'Include Already-Inventoried Objects' can be a bit misleading. When trying to create PI documents for products that already have been counted within that timespan you also need to set the time range for 'Inventory in Period' wide enough.

For example, for the cycle counting indicator 'C' we have set: count every 300 days. A product with CC indicator C that was counted last week will not be in your selection if you fill the Inventory in Period selection from e.g. 01.12.2020 till 31.01.2021. Check if you have taken this selection wide enough to include all the products that need to be counted.

It is a bit unlucky that SAP has not provided a description for this field.

Hi Damian,

This indicator only affect the documents that are with status "Not completed", which means if you had  counted it already, system will not create documents.

Thanks for the reply Karl.

Unless I don't fully understand your answer, it goes against the description of the field:

"If you select this checkbox, you can create PI documents for products or storage bins that have already been counted in the current PI period."

By its definition it is saying that the purpose is to create documents even if we have counted it already.

I did tests with products that had previous counts that were in various states.  If the previous count was inactive or deleted, then the program would find the product again whether the checkbox was active or not.

If the previous count was active, counted, or posted then the product would no longer be found, whether the checkbox was active or not.

It did not seem to have any affect either way. It seems the functionality of this field is more complicated, or not working.

Hi Damian,

If you used the type Cycle counting, firstly you can check the SPRO->Configure Cycle Counting to ensure the 'Interval of Phys. Inventories in Workdays' is ok with your scenario.

Next step, you may use Tcode: /SCWM/PI_COMPL_CHECK to make sure that field 'Completeness Check/Determination' is checked in this report after you input your criteria on the selection screen.  Then, you may do the further process.

From my opinion, if all the related PI documents are with status "post", "delete", "inactive", based on that situation, if you also checked "Include Already-Inventoried Objects" on that report, system will also create PI documents for you.

Karl
