SAP TM EWM Direct integration with or without ASR - Advanced shipping and receiving

My client is willing to useTU-based TM/EWM direct integration. They may even use Advanced shipping and receiving if required.

After FO's are created on TM and sent to EWM as TU, Client wants to decide which delivery/handling unit to be loaded on which TU from EWM, while picking and packing is still continuing on EWM. So HU's individually should be transferred to respective TM FO, once all items for this specific HU picked and packed. Client does not want to wait until the whole EWM delivery order picked and packed.

As stated in the note 1984252 "EWM- TU based planning is not supported."
But as also stated in the note 3018355, if "The initial assignment of deliveries to TUs is done within TM. Later during warehouse processing, the assignment of whole deliveries or delivery items can be changed." (Please see attachment)

May I move handling units/outbound delivery orders from one TU to another TU within EWM and also reflect this change on respective TM FO.

And may I send handling Units individually from EWM to TM, before all pick/pack process is completed for the whole outbound delivery order and its status set to "Ready for Shipping".

For this kind of process to work, which transportation planning type should be selected in EWM customizing? Any Business function needs to be activated ?

As it is a new feature, do you have a knowledge base incident for configuration settings of this business scenario.

Transportation Planning Type:

Use

The following transportation planning types are available:

  • Initial Value - No Obligatory Planning
  • The system ignores the integration with the Transportation (LE-TRA) component of SAP S/4HANA. In this case, transportation planning is not mandatory.
  • A - Obligatory Planning in Logistics Execution (LE)
  • The system uses the integration functions and requires transportation planning in LE (LE-TRA).
  • B - Obligatory Planning in Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
  • The system uses the integration functions and requires transportation planning in EWM.
  • C - Obligatory Planning in Transportation Management (TM)
  • The system uses the integration functions and requires transportation planning in TM or SAP TM.
  • D - Obligatory Planning in EWM, Billing in TM
  • The system requires transportation planning in EWM. It distributes the result to TM or SAP TM for billing.
  • E - Obligatory Planning in TM for Adv. SR (Release in TM)
    • The system uses the integration functions of Advanced Shipping and Receiving (Adv. SR) and requires transportation planning in TM. It uses TM freight documents instead of EWM transportation units (TUs).The delivery needs to be released in TM before warehouse processing can begin in EWM. You can see this for the inbound delivery in the status type DTD - Transport Plan, which has to be set to R - Ready for Warehouse Processing.
  • F - Planning in TM for Adv. SR (Release in EWM)
    • The system uses the integration functions of Advanced Shipping and Receiving (Adv. SR) and requires transportation planning in TM. It uses TM freight documents instead of EWM transportation units (TUs).Warehouse processing can begin immediately, and planning in TM can only be finalized when the outbound delivery order has the status type DSH – Shipping Readiness set to Ready.
