Hey Community,
I am reaching out to get some guidance on a scenario I am currently working on at work:
We send our PO data to our Freight Forwarders and they send the Container Load Plan back to us, which we then plan in SAP TM (Planning based on actuals). We often have the situation where we have multiple (example three) POs with different destinations. The Freight Forwarder ships those three POs in one container and we organise the transfer of the stock once the container has been unpacked.
In the system we only plan the Freight Unit for the PO that the container gets shipped to and ignore the two Freight Units for the other POs. We now found that the cost distribution is not working as expected, because we do not plan all POs/ Freight Units.
Is there a way to plan the container with all Freight Units without needing to change the POs?
Cheers
Tobias

Hi @TobiasBauer,
Could you help to answer few questions.
Are you working from Manufacture/OEM/Plant/Shipper or Carrier side? What is PO ? Is this Purchase Order for Fright Forwarder for Transport? Is this Purchase Order for Supplier/Vendor ? How are you planning "plan in SAP TM (Planning based on actuals)" ?
"Is there a way to plan the container with all Freight Units without needing to change the POs?" -> Yes please see the screen shot where you can add multiple FUs.
Assumption:
Also see the concept of " Consignment Order" ( see click below for details ) where you load cost on different FUs/POs, you do not have to change in PO
Assumption for your scenario:
#3 FUs=> 1 Container => 1FO => 3 Consignment Orders => Cost distribution on 3 documents...
It would be nice if you answer to provide clarity then someone could help you.
Kind regards,
Ajit

Thank you for your response.
I work for the retailer and we use a Freight Forwarder to ship products for us from the supplier to our Warehouse (FOB incoterm).
Yes, PO is the Purchase Order that our Replenishment Team send to the supplier and we also send it to the Freight Forwarder, who utilises a container freight station to optimise the container space. We then get the container load plan back that we plan in SAP TM. The POs get transmitted from S4/HANA to SAP TM and creates the Freight Units (1 FU = 1 PO). We use the Transportation Cockpit to identify the FUs and create the Container Unit, Freight Booking & Freight Order. The Freight Unit get created based on the PO (Order-based Transportation Requirements) hence we have three Freight Units/ POs with different destination locations, which I want to combine in one Container Unit.
I did a test where I selected all three FUs and created the Container Unit, but then the Container Unit has multiple stages. Usually we have two stages Port to Port and Port to Warehouse.
Can I adjust the FUs or the Container Unit to just one destination?
Thanks - I will review the consignment order concept. 🙂

Hi @TobiasBauer,
Thank you for Providing info!
“Can I adjust the FUs or the Container Unit to just one destination? “-> You mean source is supplier and Warehouse is destination. When you plan then it split…
Also incoterms location no plan…
FUs have 3 stages at least
I think you need 2 step approach
*Either Combined below both (Source is port and destination is warehouse)
or do individual Plan
Freight Booking for Stage Port to Port *Selection Profile…Source Location is port and destination is port
Freight Order for stage Discharge Port to Warehouse *Selection Profile …
Please let us know if further questions.
Kind Regards,
Ajit
Hi Tobias,
Addition to above:
" Can I adjust the FUs or the Container Unit to just one destination? " - Yes you can create 1 stage ( FOB Location to Warehouse ) or 2 stage ( Source to FOB Location - Not Active for planning then FOB Location to Warehouse ) =>> Again master data route/Lane need FOB Location in Port of Load ==> Port of load - port of discharge- warehouse->
Stage Building Setting : Also Provided link my previous post with incoterm location connection while stage building
Please let us know if further questions.
Kind Regards,
Ajit
