Hello all,
Here is a question asked in an SAP Certification exam. It would be great if someone gives the right answer with an explanation.
Q: You transfer two SAP ERP Sales Orders for the same customer with the same delivery date to SAP TM. Both sales orders contain three items. Based on customizing, freight units are built automatically. The Freight Unit Building Rule(FUBR) contains the strategy, "Consolidate as much as possible" and no incompatibilities exist.
What is the minimum number of freight units that are created?
I am looking forward to the answer with the right explanation.

Hello prajwal28
I'd say "two".
The key here is "freight units are built automatically". It means that as soon as TRQ is created in TM from a sales order, freight unit building rule kicks in and freight units are created. Therefore a single FU can't span multiple TRQs or sales orders if you look from ERP perspective.
The minimum number of FUs is one per TRQ, which is three in this example.

Hello Prajwal
System will create OTR for each sales order so it means 2 OTR's
Since you have activated "consolidate as much as possible" so for each OTR system will consolidate all the 3 Sales order items in corresponding OTR to create 1 FU .
It means each OTR will have 1 FU and in total you will have 2 FU's.

As per Consolidate as much as possible it will be one FU created.

no because the freight unit is built automatically as soon as the sales order is saved. Each sales order will have its own FU. But, you can run report /SCMTMS/SUBSEQUENT_FUB_LOGINT and then it can consolidate the two sales orders into one freight unit. That was not the question though 🙂 Petra
