Hello Experts,
We have a requirement where a finished good has to be packed on 2 lines in parallel. We want to pack the same product on both the lines simultaneously in PPDS. One line is new and faster than the other. So, the new line will remain idle for some time with every order till the old line packs the product allotted to it.
Please suggest if there is a standard solution to it.

Hi Agam,
It really difficult to analyse what mistake you are performing as you have not provided any step by step screen shots. Please find herewith a link
which talks about multi scheduling heuristic where in orders have been moved between lines. You have still not answered the question of whether you are able to manually move the orders between the lines.
The above blog should help you check your data as well.

Hi Agam,
If you are using alternate modes , then you should be able to move the orders between using the PPDS optimizer. You can also try and use the Multi resource scheduling heuristic (SAP_MULT_SCH) to move the orders. PPDS optimizer strictly respects pegging, please analyse the pegging relationships. Its more of optimizer modelling that needs to be tested.
If you are able to manually move orders between modes, then either of these should help you.

Hi Agam,
Based on the above description, my understanding is you will have two PDS's (two sources of supply). If this is the case may be can you try and explore the functionality of Interactive sourcing, Where you can choose the source of supply against the receipt. This is a manual process. In case of automation, and if my first statement holds good, you might need one development to not have two PDS's and make it into a single PDS with alternate modes. If you have alternate modes, then we can use PPDS optimizer to reschedule the orders and balance it between the lines.
Hope this helps.

Hi Sasi
It's alternative modes inside routing using 019 class.
With optimizer it's still forming one order at first resource. I don't understand as how to split demand to go on both resources. Also, I don't think with optimizer I can have the new orders to start at same time as one line is faster than other.
