SAP labeling both parent container and its contents

Good day,

I have a requirement to enable SAP label printing for goods receipt. When a material comes in and is logged in SAP, I would like the printer to print off all of the required labels for both the parent container and all of the individual contents. This could require printing labels of different sizes all at once (obviously using multiple printers).

is EWM needed for this? What are the basic requirements to get me going on this?

Thank you in advance

Hi, if you just need to print labels you can do it without EWM, EWM is more about logistic in the warehouse.

If you already have EWM, first question would be, where you get handling units from?

In EWM you can print in inbound process for:

- Transportation unit (shipment)

- inbound delivery

- handling unit (container)

- warehouse order

Hard to say what fits better without knowing process steps. It could be easier to do it on transportation unit level, to print everything from one process (all labels together).

Thank you for your response! So, we do use labels with SAP- so a shipment comes in, the material is logged, and then it prompts us to print a pre-set label we set up with a third party. So we have the parent label process in place.

I was mainly asking about if we need EWM to print the contents labels all at once during the same process when we enter a material.

So the process would be: Good Receipt-->Enter material in SAP--> Prompt to print--> all necessary labels are printed for everything at the same time.

Thanks!
