Hello experts,
As a consultancy company we are making a proposal to a client who asked us to cover planning processes related to demand and supply process with IBP. As i know there are 2 options:
- Supply and Response + Demand modules
- Sales And Operations module
Can you give me some key drivers that can influence the client choosing one instead of the other?
Example. With Supply and Response I know there's the automatic order confirmation (ATP) that in S&OP I don't have.
Do you have other ideas of the difference between the 2 options?
Thanks,
Gaurav

Hi Gaurav
I think you have more options than the two, depending on what you want to achieve.
"planning processes related to demand and supply process" is not really enough information to provide the best solution …
Very very very high level, if you concentrate on the operational side of supply planning, it would be orderbased planning, and for tactical it would be more the SOP. So both together can absolutely make sense. If your customer does not use ATP but would like to have some checking mechanism with IBP, it would be orderbased. If you want to calculate suggestions for allocation, again orderbased. If you need Deployment, again orderbased. If you want to know whether you need to build up another line, that would be more on SOP. If you need some specific functionality that is not (yet) available with the orderbased optimizer but with the SOP optimizer (because that one has some head start of a couple of years usage), choose SOP. If you want to optimize your positioning of the stock in the different locations, you need inventory.
And so on. There is not the one simple answer to your very broad question, this is more an architectural topic where you need to analyse your customers requirements first, sorry...
