SAP IBP S&OP Heuristics - Capacity Consumption modelling

Hi,

We are using S&OP Heuristics to plan production. As per standard config we see the PRODUCTION (Production Receipts) based on the order finish date.

Consider a scenario we have a Production Lead Time (PLEADTIME) of 4 weeks. Demand = 500 KG, Capacity Consumption rate = 1 (1kg can be made in hr), Available capacity in week = 140 HRS.

After i run Heuristics the proposed PRODUCTION is 500 KG and the Capacity Usage (PCAPAUSAGE) = 500 HRS. So the Capacity Utilization = 499%

The production is happening over a period of 4 weeks whereas the Capacity Utilization is showing 499% in the Order Finish period. We want to model capacity in such a way that the Capacity Utilization is spread across the PLEADTIME i.e. Capacity Utilization to be 125% in each of the 4 weeks.

I understand we need to use the Capacity Consumption Policy but even while using it I was unable to model it. Currently we using the value as 0.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tejinder

Hi Tejinder,

I suggest you 2 things:

  1. Update the Capacity Consumption Rate to 0.25. By doing this, the operator will multiply 500 * 0.25 in each period, resulting in 125 in each period. As a sum result, it is 500.
  2. Request an enhancement to the business logic or a new feature that behaves the way you require by submitting it to our new SAP’s Customer Influence Program for IBP via the following link: https://influence.sap.com/IBP. You can also check the KBA 2479068 for additional information.

Best regards,
Matheus

Hi Tejinder

Can you use capacity consumption policy 3 to so that consumption takes place in each period?
