SAP IBP Optimizer does not calculate results

Hi experts,

I am currently struggling with the SAP IBP optimizer regarding time-series based planning. I am currently using delivery maximization with high non-delivery penalty costs. For some reason, the optimizer does not calculate any dependent demands and customer receipts at all, while the infinite heuristic works just fine. Apart from some exceeded capacities from time to time, I get the error "Missing source of supply" for my raw materials, although all sourcing ratios (for production, customers and locations) are fine and available in the system.
Here you can see an example:

The odd thing is that the optimizer for some reason does not fulfill a single demand over the entire planning horizon for any product.

Any help on this issue would be kindly appreciated!

BR
Michael

Hello Michael,

do you have valid sources for your raw materials?

Ratios are only used by the infinite heuristic. If no valid sources exists, the infinite heuristic will create a shortage while the optimizer and finite heuristic don't have this option and can't fulfill the demands.

Please add according sources (e.g. external receipts / U-rules) and re-run the optimizer.

Kind regards, Carsten

Hello Carsten,

thanks for the fast response. So the entries in the location source master data look fine and they are valid as well (no production source invalid indicator set). The raw materials, for example RM_9000101, are procured from a vendor (0030300001) for plant 3010.

In the production source header master data, only finished and semi-finished goods are maintained with production source indicator P (as they are produced in-house). Do the raw materials somehow also need to be contained in the production source header master data, although they are externally procured by a vendor and transportation lanes are maintained in the location source master data (referring to the error message attached to my initial question)? Or is there any other possible underlying issue that you have some experience on?

Thanks and kind regards
Michael

Yes - for the raw materials also sourcing options must exist (at the source location). You could create U-rules for them yourself or mark the locations as supplier. See MDT Location for more information. For supplier locations, the U-rules are created automatically.

Cheers, Carsten

Hello Carsten,

thanks a lot for the input! After chekcing all the sources and U-rules, the optimizer is now giving me results.

Thanks and kind regards,
Michael
