SAP IBP – Automatically Copy Values Within the Same Key Figure for Different Products

Hello everyone,

I am working with SAP IBP and need to automatically copy values within the same key figure (KF X) from Product A to Product B. The requirement is that this process must be fully automated, meaning no manual adjustments via Excel.

Requirements:

  • Copy values within the same key figure
  • From Product A to Product B
  • No manual intervention (Excel is not an option)
  • No Data Realignment
  • Ideally, the solution should use standard IBP functionalities, such as Forecast Models or other possible approaches

Approaches I have considered so far:

  1. Master Data Rules – Not possible in this case.
  2. Copy Past Periods Forecast Model – Not sure how to configure this approach for my scenario.

I would appreciate any guidance or best practices on how to configure this in IBP. Has anyone successfully implemented a similar requirement?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @KacperBenner ,

This request seems impossible, especially the "copy values within the same key figure, fully automated" part 🙂

You can perform an attribute transformation (Product A->Product B) quite easily using a second key figure, then you can schedule some copy operators  to : copy the values of second KF (the attribute transformation) to a stored KF, clear the original KF, then overwrite the original key figure with the second (now stored) KF ... or you can use the Realignment tool.

Hi Andrei, Thanks for your response! It's a shame that there isn't a direct way to achieve this fully automated within the same key figure. I appreciate your suggestion regarding attribute transformation with a second key figure and the copy operator, but that would still require an additional key figure as an intermediate step. Given the constraints, it looks like Realignment Rules remain the most viable option. Thanks again for your insights! Best regards, Kacper
