SAP IBP Add In - Favourites are Unstable

Hi everyone - We are having unstable favourite issues. I can create the favourite, save and update successfully, however when I come back in and launch the favourite, typically the next day, it crashes Excel. What is weird is that if I have shared the favourite yesterday, and I get the person to save it as a different favourite (with no changes) and then share "back" to be it loads OK for me. Has anybody else had similar issues and any advice on how to resolve. Add_in version is 2108.3.0, so relatively recent. I have run the MS Office repair on Excel. Am trying to avoid messing with the registry or having to reimage / get a whole new laptop.

A tip I just got at the recent SAP Customer Day: When launching MS Excel to access SAP IBP, use the SAP IBP Add In for Excel Launcher (which should have been added to the desktop as a shortcut). This runs some clean ups and will help increase stability.

Hi Scott,

Got it. I used to face this too, probably the crash is happening on a specific laptop/template. Please try to log on and open your favorite but on another laptop to see if it's working. If yes, then try to re-install/repair the Excel add-in. Or re-create the template based on the new one.

Hope this helps,

Sittinut

Hi Scott,

Could you please share the error messages?

Hi Sittinut: If you mean the error message that Excel throws up when it crashes, there is no message of substance. It either just returns an Excel has stopped working popup with an OK button, sometimes skips that and goes immediately to a progress bar stating that Excel is gathering data to send to Microsoft, and in other cases Excel just disappears from view completely without warning. Have never seen any error code or similar message

Hi,
You can try changing location of your workbooks, maybe they land in some cloud or somewhere else.(screen) Also validate your excel-->options-->add-ins and check if there is everything needed enabled, security settings are correct etc... If nothing helps, try to install different version of add-in and see if this solves any issue...

Regards,

PK

Thanks Piotr - the workbook path matches your screenshot. If I get no joy with some other things I am trying will have a go with the latest version. Installing the add-in on each PC, updating the templates and everyone's favourites needing updating makes this a bit of a pain, so am trying to avoid this if possible. Noting that every now and again we should upgrade 🙂
