Hi.

We have an requirement to integrate SAP S/4 HANA on premise with SAP Field Service Management system. I am looking for some help on below as it was confusing to me :

1. What got to know what we can integrate in two ways : using CPI and Using FSM connector provided by Proaxia.

2. Which is the best way of integrating and any documentation on integration would be very helpful

3. If we opt for integration with FSM connector provided by Proaxia, are not we making any configuration in CPI for connectivity?

4. Getting started guide says, we should not manually create company in FSM admin. But If we do not use FSM connector provided by Proaxia, how can we a company will be automatically created ?

Any help would be greatly appreciable.

Regards

Vijay

Hi Vijay,

I can share my personal experience and POVs.

1. Proaxia connector is officially working with SAP ERP (ECC) only. Not with S/4HANA. With S/4HANA the official way would be via CPI. And tbh this would be the best way.

2. You can find documentation in SAP API Business Hub regarding S/4HANA and FSM integration.

https://api.sap.com/package/SAPS4HANAIntegrationwithSAPFieldServiceManagement?section=Overview

I'd suggest starting with "Setting Up Integration with SAP Field Service Management" guide.

3. With Proaxia you would not need to do any configuration in CPI. But I stress it again: SAP direction for the integration with S/4HANA is via CPI .

4. Which getting started guide are you referring to? I can guess it is Proaxia-related starting guide. Because with Proaxia the FSM company created via API. I'd suggest checking the guide I mentioned already: "Setting Up Integration with SAP Field Service Management".

Hi Andrei,
Thank you for your quick response.

SCP itself provided me the link for S4/HANA integration and it will redirect you to Proaxia.

https://help.sap.com/viewer/fsm_integration/Cloud/en-US/ecc-cs-s4hana-cs-integration.html

If I integrate with CPI, Do you to create company in manually ? Because If I refer the document "Integration with SAP Field Service Management", under the prerequisite section, it says "Field Service Management connector is properly configured". So, My questions is, how do you do that without creating a company in FSM! And SAP FSM getting started guide warning us not to create any company manually if we are integrating to backend! Confusion all over the places due to multiple documents!

So Please help me to understand below.

1. If i integrate using CPI, shall i manually create company in FSM and then configure FSM connector as per the instructions?

2. Do we need separate Mail server for messaging service? or It will be configured using SCP ?

3. Do we need to have separate subaccount for message service and CPI integration?

4. For master data replication, document is instructing us to upload XLSX file to upload employee and Equipment data. However, We have a requirement for direct integration to FSM where equipment and employee master data should be synced between SAP and FSM

The document which you are asking me to refer has below note:

So I again reiterate that, i have a request to integrate SAP S4/HANA On premise edition to the SAP FSM.

Hi vijaykumar.metri ,

1. Can you please be more specific? You know, there are plenty of documents available. Which "FSM Starting Guide" suggests NOT to create company manually? I've read this statement in only one document - Proaxia documentation. I would not suggest to either use or follow this document for S/4HANA integration. It'd be relevant for ECC integration if a customer chose to use Proaxia.

Yes, you need the company. I'd suggest to create it manually if you're going to use CPI for integration. Then you follow the guide I mentioned to enable FSM Connector in the company (it's not a proaxia connector; it's a connector within FSM).

2. Not sure how it is relevant to the initial message you asked. But no, you don't need a separate mail server AFAIK. FSM will handle outbound mails by itself.

3. You don't need any subaccount for message service. Emails and SMSes are handled in FSM. CPI subaccounts are usually separated by tenant type (dev/qa and prod).

4. Please check the guide I mentioned carefully. Chapter 5 Master Data Replication. Employee replication via excel is now deprecated and replaced by proper replication via integration flow 'Replicate Business Partner Employee' as mentioned there. Equipment replication is still via excel tool. But you can try to develop automatic replication on a project basis.

Are you referring to this document?

https://help.sap.com/viewer/fsm_integration/Cloud/en-US/ecc-cs-s4hana-cs-integration.html

Are you sure that you can't avoid using proaxia connector? At any rate, I'd personally look in CPI direction.

Hi Andrei,

I was referring to document https://help.sap.com/viewer/fsm_integration/Cloud/en-US/ecc-cs-s4hana-cs-integration.html. But now i am referring to the document https://api.sap.com/package/SAPS4HANAIntegrationwithSAPFieldServiceManagement?section=Overview and in this document talks about mail server and Neo environment for CPI

So my question is:

1. Do we need to main server setup for CPI integration? and

2. Do we need to have a Neo for CPI integration? Cant we use CPI on CF environment?

As you can see, Mail server is optional. You can disable it. I personally see very little benefit sending emails on errors.

It's a strange requirement to have CPI on neo. Even SAP gives new CPI tenants on CF only. Probably the documentation was not updated in timely manner. I'd not be worried.

Hi Andrei,

I'm currently working on S/HANA with FSM integration I have a question to ask you: On the S/4Hana side (DRFIMG tcode data replication framework) when creating business systems, do we absolutely have to put the same name (identical) as the name of the company on the FSM side? or can this be flexible? THANK YOU.
