SAP EWM Storage Type Data

Hi all,

I have a simple, I guess, question regarding the storage type data in the product master data.

When I check a product's master data, in the Tab "St.Type Data", I can see that the storage type is defined as A. Nevertheless, when I check the warehouse monitor I can see stock quantity existing also in other storage types, B & C. Shouldn't the product be assigned to these storage types as well, to have stock in them?

Thanks and regards,

Maria

Hello Maria,

the tab "Storage Type Data" has no relation to actual stock in that storage type.

The tab contains custom-tailored putaway and replenishment settings which are only relevant for that product in particular storage types.

Examples: Product A has high demand and therefore, you replenish at least 5 CARtons into the picking storage type (field "Min.Replenish.Qty." = 5CAR / Min Quantity 5CAR) However, Product C has low demand and you replenish only 1 CAR / minimum quantity only 1CAR.

Once again, the tab has no relation to actual stock in that storage type. Filling the tab is optional.

It is useful if you need special putaway behaviour for specific storage type / product combinations (example: different stor.sec.indicator than in global warehouse setting of product or already point to preferred bin types for a product).

Hi Maria,

Storage type data is used to define storage type specific values, e.g. storage section control indicator or replenishment values. Product can be stored in any storage type independent from this "tab". Sometimes (at some projects) this tab is not used at all

Very well explained Daniil. Thank you!
