SAP EWM - Storage bin verification

Hello,

May be it is a silly question, but can anybody explain, what the sense of using storage bin verification fucntionality in SAP EWM ?

I mean in the storage bin data we have storage bin code itself - field: /SCWM/LAGP - LGPLA and also we have verification field: /SCWM/LAGP - VERIF.

Why do we need extra field - Verification? Why we cannot use storage bin code itslef and convert it into barcode for scanning with RF device?

For example, in SAP WM (i mean part of ERP LE-WM) there is no such fucntionality and we used storage bin codes itslef for barcodes and scanning.

Come on guys, everyone complains that things you want are not there, and now there is a special field and you complain again? 😉

Now, you are right, you don't have to use this field. And if you create a barcode of the standard number and scan this, that is absolutely fine. But it simply gives you more choices how to define the verification. And you see, there is a second field, for pick by voice. Because you don't want someone to read out a complete bin number, especially with "-" or something like that. And maybe, if you don't scan, but enter a number manually, it also makes sense to have a different verification.

That is actually NOT true. The same feature does exist in LE-WM. The special thing about that: when you display a bin where no specific verification is maintained, the field is not shown. But in change / create mode it is.

Ilya, additionally to mentioned Pick By Voice one more reason could be because the bin itself is too long, and readable barcode would take a lot of place on the label.
