Sales unit CAR not valid for item ....number

Hi gurus,

I want to pack materials during inbound delivery creation (VL31N).

I have some question. In first step, I want to change the order unit when creating a purchase order, but when I save it changes to the default value. I mean I choose PAL, but it changes it to PC while the system is recording.

I say anyway then I go to VL31N. Here I want to change the sales unit PAL from the PC. But I get another warning. "No pack dialog parameters found for application" or when I choose CAR then system says "Sales unit CAR not valid for item ......." Should I assign UoM to item? If yes, how?

My last question, how to maintain HU?

If you want to create the PO with different unit, enable the option Variable order unit.

After that see if you can create IBD with alternate unit.

Thanks for your answering.
I changed it but it doesn't work. When I save the PO as PAL then system changes to PC. And PO quantity changed by the system. I mean, I write 1 system changes to 4.
