Sales BOM: Can we have components in the Sales BOM from different plants?

For example: Sales BOM Header from Plant A, and sub-items from Plant B & Plant C.

Even if you manage to create a Sales Order with a BoM whose Components belong to different plants, how will you include these Components in a single Delivery?

What is the Business reason to have Components from different Plant in one Sales BoM?

@jignesh_mehta3Thanks for your kind input. Appreciate it.

The business is fine with having the BOM components delivered in multiple deliveries, which I believe can be managed through the 'Delivery group' configuration.

Currently, the business sells a package to customers that includes a main product, an add-on product, and a non-stock item (access to the business platform). The main and add-on products may be sourced from different plants, so they currently handle this by creating multiple sales orders: one for the non-stock item/service with all price, one for the main product at no charge, and one for the add-on product also at no charge.

I believe we can utilize the Sales BOM functionality to simplify this process, allowing the business to avoid creating multiple orders.

Thanks

Hello,

Good to know the Business requirement.

I would suggest to try the end to end scenario in your Quality system. During BoM explosion in Sales Order. may be the Plant for Components is copied from Header and user will have to change Plant for respective component manually.

However in your position I would test the overall process including Financial postings.

Thanks,

Hi,

Please check there is no option to choose plant at line item level.

@Raju_Mane, Thank you for your response—I appreciate it. I understand that there is no option to select a plant at the line item level when creating the sales BOM master data, as the BOM is plant-specific. However, during sales order processing, does the system allow for updating the plant data of the components to a plant different from the one where the master data was originally created?

Hi, If it is the scenario then no issue 1) Create a sales order in first line item enter a material code eg. "line item number 100" 2) Enter second line item and find column "higer level item" enter the first line item "item number" eg. second line item number 200 and higher line item number 100 In above you are able to enter differnt plant codes in each line items. If any furhter detail help required please let me know Regards,
