I have an interesting challenge in my production line supply scenario where we use yarn cones. The cones are stored in kilograms (KG), but the production line requires supply in cone units. Each cone typically contains 2.5 kg of yarn.
We have a set of looms, some of them have a fast production supply area with space for 100 cones, some have 110, and so on.
The issue arises when planning production orders, which are based on the consumption of a specific amount of raw material, for example, 200 kg of cotton yarn. In the production order planning, the material requirement is calculated generically for all looms without considering these different storage capacities in the production supply areas.
During the production process, it is common to need more yarn or, in some cases, return unused yarn to the inventory. Additionally, we may also can consume the exceeding yarn on another machine to fulfill a subsequent order, provided that the supplier batch remains the same.
I would like to know the best* configuration strategy in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (eWM) and SAP Production Planning (PP) to efficiently handle this challenging scenario.
* We should handling this all over the RF terminal, without change the eWM delivery order, task, whatever. It means, with less bureaucracy possible.
Hi,
As you should remain flexible as i understand, i think you should use the Advanced Production Integration using PMR between PP and EWM.
This will allows you to request additional quantities if needed by creating additional WT in SAP EWM through the production staging cockpit.
