S/4HANA Public Cloud TM and WM Integration for Inbound Purchase Order

I'm looking for some detailed information for when SAP is planning on delivering a solution to integrate purchase order/inbound deliveries through the advanced shipping and receiving functionality in S/4HANA Public Cloud. I've tried looking at the product roadmap, but I didn't see any references for this particular scenario.

Has anyone else faced this restriction? What other types of solutions did you recommend for your customers who are trying to utilize both TM and WM throughout their operations?

Hello @ThomasSlack27

Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate you highlighting the distinction and providing further context for the community. The post highlights the standard features in S/4HANA Public Cloud, which, in combination, can meet business needs for inbound TM and WM processes as referred in the SAP Help updated references. I will follow your recommendations.

Hello @ThomasSlack27

While awaiting SAP’s note update, here are practical options currently used by customers in S/4HANA Public Cloud for inbound (PO) with TM/WM

Use ASR where available, TM -WM receiving

If your tenant releases and permits scope, Advanced Shipping & Receiving links TM freight orders to warehouse unloading and goods receipt (GR). Manage this process through Load or Unload Freight Orders and track progress in the ASR Cockpit. A key requirement is that the receiving point must be specified for the plant or storage location; without it, inbound processing in TM will be blocked.

Inbound focused on delivery without TM.

Several customers continue to handle transport planning outside S/4 HANA Public Cloud or manually and run inbound processes purely through Inbound Delivery and EWM.

  • Create an inbound delivery from the supplier ASN (EDI/Peppol/Ariba), then perform putaway in WM/EWM. This method serves as the simplest fallback when TM coupling isn’t required for receiving.

Synchronous Goods Receipt, no delivery, no TM

For chosen flows, post GR directly to the warehouse (scope 5HN). The system automatically creates and executes putaway tasks without requiring a delivery document, which is helpful when transport orchestration occurs outside S/4 HANA Public Cloud.

If your inbound is STO rather than a supplier PO

ASR for internal moves depends on the correct location and receiving point setup, enabling TM to plan accurately. If this applies to you, review the TM location determination guidance for STO enablement.

If you provide your release details, such as 2508, including whether it's inbound from a supplier PO or STO and the necessary transport modes, I can determine the best path (ASR, delivery-centric, or synchronous GR) along with the relevant apps and configuration touchpoints.
