Rounding Value & IBP TS Optimizer

Experts:

We've set rounding values on the Production Source Header data & execute TS optimzer for the solve. However, we see that the rounding values are being ignored. Is that a known behavior? Would the customer fulfillment & penalty costs over-ride rounding values? Is there a way to get the Optimizer respect it? We need to produce to container sizes & hence the rounding value needs

Cheers

Please use the fields 'Horizon for Production Incremental Lot Sizes' and 'Horizon for Transportation Incremental Lot Sizes' in the Optimizer Parameters to control the accommodation of Rounding Values in the Optimizer.

Thanks

Thanks Gaurav & Carsten. I know Incremental Lot-sizes aren't supported by the TS Optimizer, so, a bit confused by the use of fields Horizon for Production Incremental Lot Sizes' and 'Horizon for Transportation Incremental Lot Sizes' in controlling Rounding values' behavior

Hi Anand,

Please share the source of information from where you are quoting "Incremental Lot-Sizes aren't supported by the TS Optimizer". I am asking because the tool supports the functionality as long as you set the discretization horizon in Optimizer Profile in S&OP Operator Profiles Fiori Application.

Hi. Please check the discretization horizons in your optimizer profile - probably discretization is turned off.
Cheers, Carsten

Hi Carsten:

We've the same issue & I dont see an option to control the Rounding value via the Optimizer profile discretization horizon, even when turned on. Could you elaborate a bit?

Hi Anand,

in periods that fall into the discretization horizon, the optimizer respects discrete decisions. E.g. when you set the 'Horizon for Production Incremental Lot Sizes' to 5 periods, then the rounding values for production sources will be respected in the first 5 planning periods.

Please note that in periods with adjusted or confirmed values the rounding values is ignored. In transports the MINTRANSPORT(DS) portions aren't included in the increments.

Please provide a detailed example or open an according support case if you still see an issues. Additionally please check the business log - in very rare cases (e.g. numerical trouble) the optimizer may violate a discrete decision to get to a solution at all (messages in business log will report relaxations in such case).

Kind regards, Carsten
