RF Transaction - Maintain HU --> "Close HU"

Hi Experts

I am facing a typical issue while closing HU on RF.

EWM RF - HU closing at Work center :

The steps are :

1. Full Pallet (HU) is removed from High Rack.

2. Repacked or may be same HU is used as ship HU. So this HU is closed at Packing work center.

4. Message that the HU is completed is displayed

5. However, the object is stuck (Locked) at SM12 and also at SMQ2.

I have to delete locked entry at SM12 and then clear the queue at SMQ2.

This happens only for this RF transaction - "Maintain HU" --> "Close HU"

Please help - why this locked entry is created at SM12 ?

Hi Vinod,

Did the queue entry provide you some more information on why it's stuck in the queue? Any useful error message you can use to investigate?

Perhaps some other queues related to your outbound process that are not yet processed?

Do you get the same issue when closing the HU via /SCWM/PACK?

Thanks for your reply.

Your are right , the locking is not there when we process and close from /SCWM/PACK.

It happens only on RF --> Maintain HU --> Close HU.

No other queues are locked. Only for this particular HU which is closed , it gets into SMQ2 as well as SM12.

I have to first delete the entry at SM12 and then activate and process the SMQ2 queue.

Error - message - in SMQ2 - it remains in "Retry" Status , when we Double click on Queue we get details as :

"Command to tRFC/qRFC: Execute LUW again' --> when we re-execute LUW , it is not working.

The only way it works is you remove the HU from SM12 locked entry , then again process from SMQ2.

Unfortunately it is not resolved and is with SAP. It seems to be a bug ?

-> In Customization, Define Work Center - Parameter Save Action is clicked ? Exclusively lock is set ?

-> QRFC Administration ( QIN Scheduler ) is already set up ?

QRFC Administration ( QIN Scheduler ) is already set up ? - Yes

No improvement , still Maintain HU --> Close HU --> HU goes to SM12 and SMQ2.

There is no inspection involved. Normal close HU is also not working.

1. Sales Order : Standard Order XXX has been saved.

2. Delivery : Outbound Delivery 80000XXX was saved and distributed to the WMS EWM ODO - XXX

3. Create WT manually at Fiori - Run Outbound Process :

Warehouse Task created : 10000XXXX Source Bin : 021.01.03.02 Destn bin : 831.00.03

4. Confirm WT - RF --> System Guided - queue : YO-021-831 Create PICK HU - with Packaging Material - ewms4-pal00 - 112345678000002838

Scan Source bin , actual qty and Dest HU (Pick HU) Scan Destn bin 831.00.03 , Destn HU : 112345678000002838 WT is confirmed and the HU is now at Packing work center : Y831 5.

Now at this step followed steps : ......

Now since this Hu - 112345678000002838 is to be shipped --> close HU --> Maintain HU --> close HU --> enter SHU - 112345678000002838 --> be careful here --> you enter and go to the HU Maintenance Screen and then only click on F2-Close --> when you click on "Enter" next screen will be HU maintenance screen and it will show details of HU e.g. TWHU , TVHU , L, W, H etc fields --> now you click on F2- "Close-HU"

You will get message - S: Handling Unit 112345678000002838 compl

(however , it is not closed and we cannot see new WT at work center to move SHU to staging area)

--> Checked entry at SM12 --> it is there "

05:28:26 SCM-EWM-WOP S 0 1 /SCWM/S_RFC_QUEUE XXXWMTH00112345678000002838005056B7XXXX1EDC8BAF1718016BF8"

--> also there is entry at SMQ2 - for queue WMTH00112345678000002838 --> I have to delete above entries first in SM12 and then SMQ2 , then only , I can see new WT for SHU at work center.

1. Tcode: /SCWM/PACK_ODLV_ASYN - Activate Asynchronous Packing Processing:: Is it set in your system ? --> yes , it is set by default in pre-configured solution - for Y831

Y831 User Name Activate - Flag is marked

2. At "Define work Center" - save action is set (flagged).

Exclusive Lock - is not flagged. (let me know if it is to be flagged).

3.QRFC Administration ( QIN Scheduler ) is already set up ? - Yes it is set up.

I am facing the same issue when I try to close the HU after deconsolidation step. Did you solve the issue. Did you get an answer from SAP ?

HI Vinod,

it looks like this record corresponds to SMQ2 record, usually system create such a record to make sure that corresponding update process is finished and all locks are removed.

Could you please share status of the SMQ2 record? It should be RETRY state. Maybe you need to go out from the HU to finish the transaction. In this case I would search for OSS notes. (something like

Thanks for your reply. The note quite old one , I am working on S4/HANA 2020 Embedded EWM. Not sure if the corrections are relevant. As you said yes - the status is "Retry" and there is lock entry for HU in SM12 also. So unless I clear lock, I am not able to process SMQ2 queue. Anyway I will check for the Note you suggested.

Another thing to note is it is not happening in /SCWM/PACK transaction on SAP GUI . It happens only when you close HU from RF - Maintain HU --> Close HU.
